Spring is in the air

Yesterday whilst on a frantic lunchtime trip to the mall, I treated myself to the April edition of Document and Sidewalk magazines. Both of them mention Bristol and Barcelona, and one of them mentions that you can fly to Barcelona from Bristol for less than a standard train ticket from Bristol to London. There’s a lot of buzz about the skate scene in Barcelona at the moment. I like skateboarding. I like Spain.

The one and only time I was in Barcelona I was passing through in a badly backfiring van. I had to stop using the handbrake because if I let my foot off the throttle the van would stall and I would have to leave for it for about an hour before it would start again. I was utterly lost - I pulled up next to some Policia and asked them "where is france?" (it was the nearest I could get in my pigeon Spanish to "excuse me officer I appear to be lost, could you give me directions how to get off this one-way system and onto a motorway in the general direction of Calais"). They beckoned me to follow them and took me on a whistlestop tour of the rat runs of Barca all the way out to the motorway. stars! (probably just keen to get rid of the English hippy in his stinking van!)
