The wedge

Tuesday, June 29th, 2004

At Dean lane skate park, there is a wedge shaped obstacle near the top, it is smooth concrete with steel coping. The park is on a slope and the wedge is nearly horizontal, although it looks different depending on where you are approaching it from.

It isn’t very high, but I haven’t dared ollie off it yet, I’ve ollied off things much, much higher in the olden days, but my ollies feel far too sketchy at the moment, I always land at 45 degrees to the direction of travel. I have ridden off it (last night in fact), lifting my front wheels and letting my back wheels bounce over the slightly protruding coping, giving me a bit of height (several millimetres probably!).

The locals of course don’t display the same fear, launching big fat ollie variations off it at big fat speeds.
