Rollin through the hours
Wednesday, August 31st, 2005A week or so ago I treated myself to a copy of rollin through the decades. - even though i’d watched it at the cinema and thought it was a bit too long (about 2 hours) I knew it would make a good lazy morning DVD watch.
Today i’ve taken a days holiday to do a few long overdue chores and finally had a chance to watch it. Fantastic. If you skated in the UK (particularly London) during the 70’s, 80’s or early 90’s it really is worth watching, especially if you have a couple of hours to kill. It is very long, but that’s the thing with DVD’s - there’s a pause button.
There’s a few things I got from it that I didn’t when I watched it before:-
1. I never experienced the small wheel and baggy trouser technical phase - I knew it existed but I was still skating at the time in a parallel universe where 1989 never ended.
2. There is a section where people talk about how we need something to fill the void left by the now-defunct ESA - I think this has started to happen with the formation of the UKSA
3. I want to go and skate some banks.
