roll-in, roll-in, roll-in

Managed to nail proper roll-ins in the small bowl at Hengrove this morning, not my usual slither over the coping and make people wince as they hear my truck clink threatening to hang up, but a proper front wheels up bounce over the coping and into the transition - a little bit too much weight on the back wheels a few times, but it felt good.

I don’t know about you, but I get a good but slightly wrong feeling about rolling in! It has to be done….and and about time too!

Hello i am 40 and just starting to skate..
I can get around a park and do kickturns and pump the tranny a bit. I can drop in on small non vert small ramps and roll in as long as the board only “Slithers” a tiny tiny bit.
I need to learn to roll in on coping (lots of “slither”)so i can get more speed. The ramp I am doing this on is about 5 feet tall and near vert with coping. Your “slither” desription is exactly what i do, but I always stall out and jump over the front of the board and run it out. I tried to keep my weight on the forward foot as I slither over the coping but it still hangs up on the middle of the board deck and coping..any advice? Thanks Chuck.

You need to suck up the back leg once you get your weight over the front foot and into the transition. I use this type of drop in on mellow trannies for more speed and less falling backward due to the lack of vert and momentum. When I was younger, I learned roll-ins before drop-ins.

Ok thanks…That make sense cuz there is less to hang up if there is no weight on the back trucks.
So I will be putting almost ALL of my weight on my front foot?
Now I do about 60% front foot 40% rear and its not working..lol
I keep my feet directly over the trucks too.
Would I be better off learning to drop in normally(from a standstill on the tail)?
I can do that on smaller transitions but have not had the courage to try it on the 5 foot high ramp.
    Thanks…

I also go really slow when I try to roll in.
Is it easier when you go faster? how fast?
    Thanks
